Delete your Kin account

This page explains how to delete your Kin account and the data associated with it — from inside the app, or by request if you no longer have it installed.

Option 1 — Delete it in the app

Settings → Delete Account

1. Open Kin and go to the Profile tab.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
4. Confirm. Your account is closed immediately and your data is queued for permanent removal.

Option 2 — Request deletion without the app

Email us

If you have uninstalled Kin or cannot sign in, email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my account”, sent from the email address registered to your Kin account.

We use the sending address to verify ownership. If you can only write from a different address, tell us your Kin username and we will verify another way before deleting anything. We confirm by email once deletion is complete.

What gets deleted

What happens to your messages

Before your account is removed, the content of every message you have sent — in direct and group chats alike — is replaced with an “Account deleted” placeholder, and any attached media links and author identifier are cleared. Other participants keep their own conversation history, but they will see the placeholder instead of your original messages.

What we retain, and for how long

How long it takes

Your account is closed right away. Deletion of the associated data completes within 30 days, except for the limited categories listed above.

For full detail on what we collect and why, see the Kin Privacy Policy. Questions about a deletion request? Email [email protected].
